You are never too old to learn.  At Yearning for Learning, various classes will be offered throughout the year, both in-person (NYC/Monmouth County, NJ area) and virtually for adult learners.  Classes will include, but are not limited to; 

• Fundamentals of Reading
• Everyday Math
• Job Skills
• Cooking &  Kitchen Safety
• Nutrition/Healthy Lifestyles
• Social Skills 
• Independent Living Skills

*All classes run for 6 consecutive weeks.

Parent workshops will be offered four times throughout the year both in-person (locations within the NY metro area) and virtually.  Parents will leave each workshop feeling empowered and ready to implement new strategies that will best support their child(ren)- of all ages and abilities. 

The following topics will be covered during this comprehensive workshop:

Effective communication

Modifying behaviors

Promoting independence

Options outside of their typical day 

Walk/Wheel a mile in your child's shoes Enhancing executive functioning skills 

Reviewing your rights

*All workshops provide a hands on learning experience where you walk away not only with new knowledge to use and share, but resources that can be easily implemented in your home/community the very same day.

It's all about raising the bar! Workshops will be offered throughout the year for educators and/or agency staff that include ALL of the following topics;

1. Walk/Wheel a mile in my shoes

2. Understanding the whole student/person

3. Best practices for managing behaviors

4. Effective communication

5.  Developing and implementing  

       S.M.A.R.T. goals

6. Fostering a healthy self-esteem 

7.  Self-reflection  matters (as a professional)

You will leave this comprehensive workshop feeling empowered and ready to implement new strategies immediately.  You will feel confident as an educator or staff member who supports students/people with disabilities.  Workshops will be 5 hours long, covering all topics listed above.  This is an interactive workshop where each participant will leave with  new  customized resources to use.  If you want to schedule a workshop at your site, please contact us.
